So this is Ely's first year playing soccer. It's been.... interesting. I don't think I've ever heard his name called so many times in a one hour time span. "Ely, get the ball." "Ely, kick the ball." "Ely, don't pick up the ball with your hands!"

It's one of the rights of passage in a kids life when he wears a team uniform for the first time.

I just want to eat him up!

Fair Week

It was incredibly hot. It's never good when the words "Fair Week" and "Record Highs" come together.

Pigs don't sweat. But I sure do! See the blur. Even my camera was sweating.

It was a full time job keeping the animals (and people) cool.

And what about the tractors? Nothing like a good ole tractor pull at the Fountain County fair.

Although, I wasn't fully prepared for the total and complete meltdown when Ely didn't win!

Ely "What! You mean I didn't win nothin!"
Me "No bud, you didn't peddle the farthest."
Ely "What! You mean I didn't get NOTHING!"
Me (sigh)

However, Halle did great in her age division. Beat all the other girls and even some of the boys. Yes siree. Maybe all that swimming paid off.

A Small Thank You

Hello world. I'm back in the blogging saddle again, at least for a while. My principal internship has taken priority over my life, but I'm beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Here's some things you've missed.

1. Buddy, our newest family member. This poor guy was lost, and we took him in. Turns out he's a GREAT dog!

2. Springbreak 2011. We were blessed with yet another memorable trip to Florida. And yes, we squeezed in a day at Disney.

3. Halle turned 8. Yes, she's growing up so fast. This mama couldn't be prouder!

Our Christmas

This was one special Christmas. The kids are at the perfect age, surprises where endless, and their smiles were wide. Christmas morning is one of best days to be a parent!

Ely was a little creeped out when saw this hanging out of his stocking.

And while the focus is a little off on this picture, I had to share just how handsome he looks in his new coonskin hat.

This backhoe is Ely's new prized possession. And notice the boots...yes folks, even on Christmas morning with presents waiting, he must slip on those boots.

He was so full of expression and personality as each present was opened.

Precious memories with family

And Halle was in for quite a surprise herself. She woke up Christmas morning to a new saddle, blanket, brushes, halter, rope, etc.... but no horse. When I asked her later how her Christmas was she simply stated, "It was good, but I really wanted a horse." We really had her convinced that she wasn't getting a horse. A short drive later, she was in for the surprise of her life.

Yep baby, she's yours.

What A Game!

Fountain Central hosted Guerin Catholic Friday night in the Class 1A Semi-State match-up. It was a classic David versus Goliath match up. Public versus Private. City versus country. Guerin pulled up in their fancy charter buses. They didn't have a kid under 200 pounds on their front line. We didn't have a kid above 200 pounds on the front line.

So how did our boys prepare for one of the biggest games their of lives? Well, there ya have it.

Guerin Catholic carried out a sledge hammer and baseball bat unto the field.... yet another attempt to intimidate. One of their coaches was overheard saying, "Let's show these hillbillies how to play football." And they pretty much dominated the first three quarters.

And with 3 minutes to go we were down 20-6. It looked like the boys were playing their last three minutes of football.... Dave Calabro from channel 13 had left. Several fans had filtered out and headed home.

But, they didn't stop believing. And the rest is history. It was one of the most amazing comebacks in school history.

That's pretty much how everone was feeling.

And THAT'S how hillbillies play football. Thank you very much. We're headed to Lucas Oil baby! Great job FC, couldn't be prouder.

Time Flies

Finally catching up a little on my blogging. I can not believe it is the middle of November! Where did Fall go? Here's a little recap of some highlights of how we celebrated Fall.

The farmers were able to get their crops out in record time. Thanks to our drought conditions the corn and bean dust was flying. Ely rode in the combine with Doug every chance he got. I think he kept the guys entertained on the radio.

The Halloween season came and went. It was pretty much all a blur. Shelby and Tyler came over and carved pumpkins with the kids. We attended our church's Trunk or Treat event. Halle dressed up to match her American Girl Doll. Ely was "Bobby" from the Discovery Channel show "Swamp Loggers". He loves that show. We have 23 episodes recorded now....have to watch one every night..... at three years old he can tell you what a fillabuncher (sp?) is ...thinks we should buy one....Bobby and Simitro are his heros.

The Davenports

It's great to be able to share with you a recent photo session with the Davenport family. I'm proud to say this beautiful family is a part of my family. They were an absolute blast to photograph. I have come to realize that men don't care about getting their picture taken as much as women care about it. However, the guys were such good sports. Luke had us all rolling, which made my job that much easier.

Of course I couldn't tell Ely were I was going. If he had known whom I was going to be spending the afternoon with, he would have insisted on coming along. We can't mention Doug's name without the insistence of a phone call and a long story about the combine.

Outside my window I can see the most energetic, charming, charismatic little boy. He's living life to the fullest. God was so good to me when He allowed me to be his Mom. How could I say no when those dark brown eyes looked up at me and said, "Mom, will you rake up a pile of leaves with me so I can jump in them?"

There are few times in our life as special as the hours just before the wedding when the bride is preparing herself for her groom. The hustle and bustle, emotion, and excitement build. Of course I thought Natalie was beautiful. I couldn't help but think, "How did my little cousin (whom I'll always picture as that cute three year old with an IU cheerleader outfit on) grow into such a beautiful young woman?" Where did the time go? Papaaw, you were right. The older you get, the faster time goes by.

Livin on the Lake

Our first trip to Dale Hollow in June lasted a wonderul 10 days. We traveled down in a convoy of three boats and one jet ski. We were quite a sight going down the interstate. We didn't make the best time, but we were in good company.

Ely enjoyed his time on the lake this summer.

This is our new home on the lake, Dale Hollow State Park Marina.

Fred and Kay

Ozzie really lives a rough life, doesn't he. He loves to go boating so much that when he sees us starting to pack he will go sit in the driveway and not get up.

We meet several new friends on the dock. Here are some pictures of Matt and Melissa's boat. We're looking forward to our third trip down to meet up with them again.

Whether during the day, at dusk, or by moonlight Dale Hollow is just so beautiful. It spoils you for good.

Now that I'm back in the blogging saddle again, it's time to play catch up. Here's a few pictures I took of Halle this summer.

For those of you who didn't hear the story. Her brother Ely cut her bangs (and I mean scalped her) while she was sleeping on the boat at Dale Hollow. She's handled it really well and we're getting really good at trying new hairstyles to cover it up. In the meantime Ely will not hold another pair of scissors until he enters Kindergarten. Sorry Mrs. Duncan. You can teach him how to cut.

I was invited to photograph the party immediately following the engagement of Zach and Sarah. I had a great time with all of their friends and family. Zach took Sarah out by horseback to the family pond. There he had roses, champagne on ice, a blanket covered in rose petals, and of course a diamond ring waiting for her. The family was left back at the house for over an hour waiting on pins and needles. They quickly had all the decorations out and were anxiously waiting for them to return. Luckily they both came back with smiles on their faces and a ring on her finger.

Columbia Park and Zoo

Last week, while we were waiting on Ozzy to get his hair cut, we spent a few hours at the Columbia Park and Zoo. The kids had a great time and it was all FREE!

We really enjoyed the butterfly garden. One landed on Ely's hand. Another one landed on Halle's foot.

This is Halle's first year to swim for FAST, Fountain Aquatic Swim Team. I really enjoy cheering her on when she races. Of course, I love swimming and still have many memories from when I swam on FAST for Jerry Taylor. So it's been fun watching Halle swim in the same pool.

While cheering Halle on I've been capturing these action shots of the team. Swimming action shots are not the easiest thing to capture, but I've learned a lot! I now know where the best spots are to stand. I've learned that each stroke requires a different technique.

Conner

I had two baby photo shoots in one week! I had the pleasure to doing Conner's three month old pictures earlier in the week. He was so good natured. I don't think he fussed one time. He gave me all kinds of cute faces, he cooed and cooed, and then fell asleep! Candi said he's already sleeping through the night. I'm so jealous. Ely's still not consistently sleeping through the night and he's three years old.

The Hoagland Boys

Brian and Adrienne introduced me to their twin boys this past week. Drew and Ryan both weighed in at just over 6 pounds at birth! These identical twin boys are hard to tell apart. Adrienne can tell them apart by their ear lobes. And Ethan is so proud of his new big brother role. I drove up to their beautiful home in Carmel for a fabulous photo shoot. It was one of my most favorite photo opportunities to date.

After exchanging vowels on the prestine white sandy beaches of Florida, Zach and Stacey returned home to celebrate with family and friends. I was thrilled to get the opportunity to capture this moment for them. (I knew this gorgeous couple would be easy to photograph!) The reception was held at The Trails in Lafayette. The weather eventually gave way to rain, but we managed to squeeze in a few pictures. Both families were so kind and welcoming.

One of the greatest things about being a mom is receiving love, kisses, hugs, homemade cards, and flowers from your children.

Why just this morning Halle gave a bouquet of flowers she made at school. And Ely brought me breakfast in bed. It was a can a dill pickle flavored pringles. And he made sure I ate one in front of him.

Ely has also been picking me flowers almost every day. It is the sweetest thing ever. He picks me a dandelion and tells me to put it behind my ear. I love it, I really do. Not because it's a pretty or expensive flower. In fact, it's a weed. I love it because it's from him and he's doing it because I'm his mom. Like I said, it's great being a mom. And I'm going to everything I can to make sure I get to spend an eternity with them.

I'm so glad I started doing this because when I first sat down to type this I was grumpy and now I realize I don't have any reason to be.

10. So thankful for my opportunity to photograph the Montgomery Wedding Reception.

9. Halle's antibiotic seems to be working and her strep throat is getting better.

8. We had good news on Halle's blood test results.

7. My orange poppies are in full bloom and they are gorgeous.

6. I survived the Vera Bradley sale and came away with great memories and incredible bargains.

5. My pottery from the Pottery Alley was finally done. I picked it up on Wednesday and it was even prettier than I remember.

4. My brother left me the best message a big sister could ever ask for.

3. It is almost the end of the school year!

2. My babysitter is amazing! I can leave Ely everyday knowing she is taking such good care of him. That kind of peace of mind is priceless.

1. I am so thankful that God allowed me to be a mother. And He gave me two of the best kids in the whole wide world.

As Ely would say, "Jesus made that sky!" And yes, what a sky he made for us tonight!

Hillary Senior Portrait Shoot

I had an absolutely fantastic time taking Hillary's pictures. She's an amazingly gorgeous, tall, blonde, blue eyed, athletic, hard working, well rounded young lady. She will be graduating from North Vermillion this spring. Hillary and I traveled all over the two county area for her photo shoot. We had great weather both days and she's a natural in front of the camera.

Thankful Thursday

I've always liked reading Nicole's Gratitude Fridays. I've just never had enough motivation to start my own. That is until two weeks ago when Gary preached about living your life with extreme gratitude. So I've decided that I also need to show a little more appreciation in my life. My goal to post a list every Thursday.

10. I had a fabulous time with Hillary shooting her Senior Photo Shoot this week.

9. I'm glad that spring has arrived and my photography business is growing with the season.

8. My new 580ii flash arrived yesterday.

7. My husband, Rodney, has been doing some spring cleaning and I'm loving it!

6. Halle passed her addition timed test today. She did 100 problems in 6 minutes! We've been working hard on them and I'm glad her hard work has paid off.

5. I'm grateful I still have a job in this climate of school cuts.

4. I'm excited to start the new Beth Moore Bible study on Daniel. Last night was my first night and I can't wait for more.

3. The spring has been so unseasonably warm and my flowers have been beautiful.

2. I am super excited and a wee bit nervous about the wedding reception I'll be shooting in a few weeks.

A Day at Magic Kingdom

It was a great day to go to Magic Kingdom. The crowd levels were surprisingly low, and the weather perfect.

The girls started out their day in the castle eating brunch with the Princesses.

Making a wish, sweetie.

Ely was such a good boy all day. Except for this little fit, which I couldn't even get mad about because it was too darn cute.

Oh my goodness, look at that lip!

Hump!

Riding the jungle cruise with Dad made him forget all about whatever he was mad about.

Squeezed in a good nap and we were set for the rest of the evening.

The lines were not bad at all, but I had to capture this pitful look while Halle waited to ride Thunder Mountain Railroad.

And who can forget The Country Bear Jamboree. I wish I could, not one of my favorites.

This was a precious moment. Ely had just ridden his first rollercoaster (The Barnstormer) and was so proud of himself. "Yes," he said as they came to a stop.

We all had to ride it AGAIN, and AGAIN!

OK Mom, that's enough.

AND THE MOMENT WE'VE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR.....THE ABSOLUTE HIGHLIGHT OF THE TRIP FOR ELY..... HE GOT TO MEET MICKEY, AGAIN. (He doesn't remember seeing him last year.)

He was absolutely beside himself. When it was finally his turn he just jumped up and down in one spot and couldn't approach Mickey out of pure JOY. Watching this scene unfold made me wonder what that moment will be like when we see Jesus. It's going to be unimaginable! Will I jump up and down with pure joy or fall to my knees under the weight of his beauty?

It was such a great day to be a parent! Thank you Lord for allowing me to be a Mommy to two of the most awesome kids on earth. And thank you Lord for all you have provided for us so we can have these experiences with our family and friends.

What A Day!

Yesterday was my birthday. I am so blessed that God has allowed me thirty-two years on this Earth. I praise God for the good. I praise God for the bad. Without the bad I wouldn't be who I am today, and I wouldn't fully appreciate all the good.

But despite it being my birthday, it was quite a day. I took Halle to piano lessons after school. While waiting on her I took some pictures around Kim's house because it was just so pretty out. Spring was in full bloom and I couldn't resist the opportunity to document it.

As soon as the lesson was over we hopped in the car and ...... black smoke.....lots of black smoke..... coming from the Grubbs farm.

We got there just as things were unfolding. The fire department had not yet arrived. I stopped to see if I could help, even if just for moral support. I hugged Jody and fetched some water for Joy, then got out my camera. It was a devastating time for them and I hestitated to take pictures. Would it be considered rude? People usually take pictures of happy moments, not sad ones. Then I realized that was why I was there. Later, after the shock wears off they will want a documentation of this unforgettable day.

God is amazing, even in the bad. If the wind had been from the other direction the house would have been gone in a matter of minutes and someone could have been hurt. Amazingly, everyone was safe and the house was saved. Things can be replaced, but not people.

The whole event made me reflect on what is going to happen during the end times. It's ALL going up in flames. Things won't matter. I hope we can remember we should be storing our treasures in heaven, not on earth.

We took time to recover from our drive down to Orlando before hitting Magic Kingdom on Tuesday. Hanging out at the condo proved to be one of our more relaxing days.

One of the planned activies we took part in was making tie-dyed shirts by the pool.

I even managed to sneak in a mini photo shoot on one of our walks.

Downtown Disney

One of first stops after arriving in Orlando was Downtown Disney. Our condo was located just two minutes away from it all. I just love the hustle and bustle and all the great shopping and restuarants. There was live music. It was a great night.

This little store was full of mismatched socks. It was a cute shop, but at eight bucks a pair I decided against buying from here. I mean I could just go dig in my laundry basket for FREE and get nearly the same result!

The biggest decision of the night was where we would eat.

(Now you don't see that in Kingman!)

Next stop? The Lego Store! This is one of the kids' favorites.

More difficult decisions here too.

We left last Saturday morning bound for Florida. This was a new adventure for us because we've always flown and this year we opted for driving. All in all we made pretty good time. The Sims family was also driving and so we made the journey together. Each leg of the trip looked a little different than the last.

We stopped at this rest stop in Georgia and enjoyed the beautiful view while the we all stretched our legs.

And who knew driving through the mountains was so treacherous?

At last we arrived at the Florida Welcome Center!

It was rainy and cloudy. I was glad that the rain and clouds arrived on a driving day and were cleared out by the next day.

And I just want to say "God Bless You!" to the person who first thought of putting DVD players in vehicles.

And those wireless headphones are really handy too!

Finally, we arrived at our condo.

Our three bedroom, three bath, two private patios, full kitchen, washer dryer unit was super nice. It was perfect and fit both of our families wonderfully! We had heated pools, putt-putt, basketball courts, tennis courts, hot tubs. We really could have just spent the week at the condo and been content.

And I loved the spookey southern feel of the moss dripping off the trees.

I thought I'd give you a sneak peak at my classroom. These are the four walls in which I work my magic. Each day is different, challenging, successful, fulfilling, and tiring. It's where God has called me and it's empowering to know you're touching children's lives everyday.

For those of you readers who went to Southeast Fountain Elementary as a student many years ago, A LOT has changed. For example, we now have WALLS, and new gymnasium, and lots of new faces!

So come on in.

Here's my teacher tool box. I love to use bright colors. Who says you can only grade in red? I've always thought red to be an intimidating color on white paper.

And these are my famous peanuts. "What are these for?" you're asking. They are the backbone of my room management plan (thanks to a long time veteran teacher Mrs. Reidy). My students are working for peanuts. And then I have a gigantic class store and students get to spend them. I must say the system works beautifully.

Another piece of my classroom management puzzle is "The 55 Essentials" by Ron Clark. They are rules that teach a child how to be successful in life, not just in school. Isn't that our goal after all?

And here's what happened to be on my chalkboard this week.

Here's a cozy corner. It's my favorite part of the room, my library. (not a good picture)

Technology! Wow, we've come a long way baby. Here are my new student laptops for my classroom. My students use them in math and reading as one of their centers. I also have my own laptop and two desktop computers in my room. But the absolutely, positively most impressive thing to hit the classroom in years is THE SMARTBOARD. I didn't get a good picture of mine, but let me tell you, it is THE COOLEST THING EVER!

Here's a Smithism 101. I have them all over my room. This one just happens to be one of my favorites.

And this is not from my classroom. This is from Mrs. Hilge's room, who happens to be Halle's teacher. I chuckled when I read Halle's answer to "What do you miss about summer?"

The Well

The Well is what we call our Wednesday night program at church. We had a packed house tonight. Why? SNAKES! I know what you might be thinking. What kind of church do you go to? No, we're not that crazy! Anyways, Derrick, our youth pastor, invited an expert from The Creation Museum to come speak to us tonight. I can't wait to go there myself.

Derrick asked me to photography the event. I'd thought I'd share a few. (Pardon the grain. I had to shoot at a high ISO in the low light, but it was better than using a flash.)

This guy uses snakes and reptiles in his ministry. His message is pretty simply. Isn't it so neat that God created all these amazing,well planned out, divinely constructed living creatures. And no, I don't like snakes, but God is pretty cool like that.

Project Linus

Our family will be heading to Florida again this year for spring break. We are sharing a beautiful condo with the Sims. Rissa, our nanny, is going too:) And of course we'll have to take a day or two to visit Disney. It will be pretty hard to top last year. I mean how many people get to say their family was "The Family of the Day" at Magic Kingdom and all the star treatment that goes along with that?

Anyways, we are participating in the "Give a Day. Get a Day." program this year. If we give a day for community service, we get a free ticket to the park. Our project is called Project Linus. Super cool project, I might add! Each family member makes two blankets to qualify for a ticket.

Perfect pattern for a teen, I thought.

I bought this puppy dog fleece for a little boy.

And what little girl doesn't like butterflies?

But my personal favorite was this pattern with owls on it. I loved the bright colors and the owls were so adorable. Ely latched on to this one. I think I'm going to have to go back to Jo-Ann Fabrics for some more of this.

These blankets will be going to kids in need in the Kokomo area. In sum, it was a fun project. We got to spend time together, and Halle really enjoyed helping. So what are we going to do now? WE'RE GOING TO DISNEY! again:)

I have been inspired by Nicole to pick a word to live by. SIMPLIFY seemed like the perfect word for me as well. I've long believed that the more stuff you have, the more stress you have. I like things neat and tidy. I can't stand clutter. I like knowing that everything has a place. After much thought and still not being able to come up with just ONE word, I've found something that suits me. Since January I've been thinking and thinking about what my word would be. And I've finally figured it out. I don't need one word. For me, I need one verse.

And here it is. "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind." Matthew 22:37 This is the verse I'm going to meditate on daily. This verse is going to be my compass in decision making this year.

We attended Family Skate Night again this year. Halle had improved quite a bit from last year. Ely, we soon learned, is actually pretty darn good at skating! I think it would be safe to say he didn't get his skating skills from his father.

So basketball season is full force. I've finally made it out to a few games after climbing out from under the mountain of football pictures. And just when I was starting to feel really confident about my ability to take a good action shot, the football season ended. I have realized very quickly that taking a basketball action shot is ENTIRELY different from taking one in football. I'll get it figured out, and hopefully it will be before the season is over.

My shots of the girls game turned out much better because it was during the day and I had more light to work with (which is imperative when you're dealing with a fast moving subject). I didn't do so great at the boys game though. I don't like the sports setting on my 50D, and haven't found the perfect setting in my manual yet either. I really need that Canon EF L Series 70-200 f2.8 IS Lens Stabilization 2.8, because my Tamron 17-300mm just won't give me what I need in low light situations. I just can't rationalize spending $1500 on a lens right now. (Delayed gratification is what some people call that.)

AJ's Senior Portraits

I had the pleasure of doing AJ Stockdale's senior portraits. I have known AJ for a long time. He shows cattle in 4-H and was the kicker for the football team. You've probably seen pictures of him this fall on my blog. AJ will attend Blackhawk University this fall. I'm sure he'll become a rich and famous livestock judge someday!

Getting his senior pictures done wasn't something on his top ten list of things to do, but he was a good sport about it. We did a photo shoot earlier in the fall and the light was too harsh and too many pictures just didn't turn out. I asked him if we could do it over and he obliged. AJ and I were able to squeeze the second shoot in over break. I think they turned out pretty good. Note to self: cloudy days with snow on the ground make for perfect photography days. WOW! Love the sparkle in his eyes.

I Don't Want Christmas Break To End

I've actually had time over the last two weeks to catch up on housework, play with pictures, and reconnect with loved ones.

Ely's getting his first mini lesson on how to run the four-wheeler. He did a surprisingly good job, and looked so adorable doing it.

Merry, Merry, Merry, Merry Christmas!

Let me first recognize the true meaning of Christmas, celebrating the birth of Jesus. We have a tradition at our home of reading from the Bible the Christmas story on Christmas eve. This was the first year that Halle was able to read part of story herself, which was pretty neat.

Ely's opening one of his new "twactors", while sporting his new Carhart overalls. Ely's Christmas was full of what boys are made of: tractors, wooden barn, ranch set, farm animals, chain saw, nerf guns, tools, blocks. You get the idea.

Halle was surprised and pleased to find out she was getting an Extreme Room Makeover, complete with new bedding, curtains, an antique couch, wall decor, and throw blankets.

Of course I was thrilled to see her put a camera on her Christmas list. This one is just perfect and maybe even a little too good for a 6 year old. But hey, my new assistant must have adequate equipment to work with.

My dear husband got me an iPhone. He always out gives me. He also got me an awesome Bose stereo system that hooks up to the iPhone, and an iTunes gift card. As I was putting this post together I realized I didn't take a picture of what he got, a new stereo for his truck that he can hook his iPhone up too. Although, we're now thinking about putting it in the boat instead.

Tyler really liked the book I made for him full of his football pictures from this year. We're hoping he'll put that new welding helmet to good use too.

I'm not sure who enjoys the new wii games more, the parents or the kids? And playing Mario Cart just brings back so many memories.

And I'll leave you with a peak at my Christmas tree this year. My color scheme this year was silver, ivory, and purple. Gotta say I really liked it and I'm not a "purple" person.

I Survived The First Semester!

Hello. Glad you're still logging in to read my poor neglected blog. In case you're wondering what's been going on with me, I've been busy to say the least. I wrapped up my football pictures by attaining a field pass for the state game at Lucas Oil in which I took over 700 pictures at that game alone. I created and copied over 60 DVDs for the football team incorporating some of those photos. Rodney and I took Tyler on a college visit to Hobart. I took pictures for the Junior High Christmas dance. I've created curriculum and read through "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" and "The Lawn Boy" with my 21 fourth graders. I've had two family photo shoots. And then there's the ever present graduate course I'm taking this semester through Ball State. (I got an A+ on my final exam!) I traveled to Davenport, Iowa to sneak in one weekend with family. And amazingly, I still managed to get my Christmas shopping done and host the Christmas dinner to finish things off. BREATHE.

We hosted a game night with some friends from church on Tuesday night. It was exactly what I needed. It was motivation for me to get the house tidy before Christmas, and I laughed harder than I have laughed in awhile. We are so blessed to have such a wonderful church family.

Halle performed in the Christmas program at Grandma and Grandpa's church Wednesday night. It was her first time singing into a microphone in front of a crowd. She looked like such an angel. Of course I'm a little bias.

And through all the craziness guess what happened? My computer crashed. I'm talking blue screen, NOTHING. Luckily, we were able to save most files and transfer them onto a portable hard drive, and I have a laptop I can still use. Our new computer is being custom built and will be on it's way soon. YAY!

We're going to THE DANCE! I've got a big dilemma though. I can't decide which shirt to wear. Should I wear the one that says "UNDER-RATED!" or the one that says "WE DON'T RECRUIT!"?

Unforgettable night. If you didn't go, you should have. FC presold over 500 more tickets than CC. We had an enormous crowd. It was so awesome to be a part of school history. Last night made me PROUD TO BE A MUSTANG!

I think this comment on Grid Iron Digest from an unbias user says it best.
"I was at this game. The score does not reflect the play of the game. I first want to say how good the field condition was. CC's field looked in great shape considering all the rain we have has this year. Also, I thought CC did a great job hosting the semi-state. It just wasn't their night.

I don't think there was a person left back home for FC. What a backing of fans. I would put their backing of a team and the numbers that came could rivel any school I've ever seen. SRO. Great game and good luck at state. "

FC Mustangs Clinch Regional Title!!

And the two hour drive was SO WORTH IT! What a great game! What a great victory! These boys made school history. It's my understanding that we've never had a team with a 13-0 Record, even in 1983.

I'm so stinkin proud of all the boys. They've had an unbelievable season. I know this week is going to be the longest week ever. I can't wait for Friday. If you haven't already, make plans now to go. Be there Friday, November 20, 2009 at 7:00 pm at Clinton Central. We need to show these boys just how much their families and community support them!

The parking lot was more full than it's been all season. The stakes were high. The fans were ready and my camera was hot!

Halle was Belle this year. Ely could have easily been the Beast, but he wouldn't have had to dress up for that. We backed up our "hot rod Lincoln" up to the Trunk or Treat event at Sterling Christian Church and passed out bag after bag of candy. Dave said we had 200+ trick or treaters (not including all the parents) and we served about 20 gallons of chili!

Ely was a cowboy this year, which isn't much of a stretch either. He went around holding his gun up and telling people "Stick 'em up." to get his candy. Interesting strategy. I just hope past behavior doesn't predict future behavior in this case.
(I'm really trusting in that one bible verse....train up a child in the way they should go and they shall not depart from it.)

I've known Belinda for nearly 25 years now. I'll never forget how jealous I was of her when she got the Michael Jackson "ALBUM" from the tooth fairy.

Megan Robinson Senior Portraits

I had the pleasure of going to Megan's house this Sunday afternoon and shooting some pictures. They have a beautiful home surrounded by an amazing piece of property. She has some great ideas of what she wanted. It's so much fun to shoot with people who are creative themselves. Megan's parents where a great help too, doing things like washing her car and hauling fancy chairs on four wheelers to different locations.

I am officially taking pictures for hire. It took me 3 long years of learning before I really felt comfortable enough to charge people for my work, but I've finally arrived! I look forward to getting even better with new experiences and opportunities to shoot.

The Lord has graciously opened up this door for me and I've had the chance to shoot some pretty neat pictures here lately.

I asked Coach Moore if I could snap some shots of the team warming up before the game and he obliged me. (I wanted to get some pics of Tyler, as a senior, leading the team in warm-ups.) As I was shooting from the track Coach Moore said I could step out on the field for some close ups. Just as I stepped on the field he says to Tyler, "TLAW, get your sister under control!" He jerked around to see me and then started to laugh. Whew!

I love the excitement that fills the air as the team steps on the field for the first time. And I especially loved this picture of him in the front of the pack leading the team on the field.

Ready, set, GO!

It's only the third game of the season and look at all those stars on his helmet! After getting "Hit of the Week" against Turkey Run, he was ready to kill someone else. He had several great hits that night, but one hit was especially hard. They had to carry his opponent off the field in the ambulance. At first it was thought he had ruptured his spleen and broken some ribs. I later heard he had just broken some ribs, but I never heard the official update. Poor kid! I told Tyler to take it easy on them. His response was, "Hey, I'm out to play football. If they don't want to play, then get off the field."

Mercy me!

Saturday marked week two of the regular season. Halle's first year on the U8 field has proved more difficult. U8 means a bigger field, a goalie, more rules, playing offense and defense positions, and older kids. I'm really proud of her adaptability to the game. The kids on her team are great kids and I've made some new friends with a couple parents. There are two "Halle's" on the team, and surprisingly it hasn't caused too much confusion. (When she was born we wanted her to have a name that was a bit unique but not too weird. Who knew there were other parents out there thinking the same thing? And she gets called Haylee all the time.)

Personally, I'm really starting to like soccer. Of course this is UNSPEAKABLE for a football fan, and Tyler has to muster all the strength he has to come to Covington and watch her.

Ely headed here to the other side of the field to sit with Paw and Mamaw, lugging his tractor filled backpack behind him.

Side note: Last year their team shirts said "The Shriner's Hospital" and this year it is "Sunset Funeral Home". Am I the only one that finds this disturbing?

First Day of School

I heart the new hair cut. She's been asking me if she could cut it for a year, but it was so pretty and long. I finally let her-should have a long time ago.

The conversation went something like this... "Mom, you're not taking pictures of me in my classroom.... Mom...this is ridiculous.... Mom... knock it off."

I can't help it. I love you baby.
